A trending report on social media has it that one Eyor Eketen has stabbed a family identified as Charles to death over a woman in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.
“E don kill am, Charles don die!” his lover screamed in her Akwa- Ibom dialect as she ran out of her room.
Startled, some neighbours who saw her also ran for cover while others summoned courage and went into her room.
The sight of an angry man, who was cursing and stabbing another, who lay in a pool of blood and too weak to put up a fight, terrified them.
People ran helter-skelter, shouting and calling for help.
The knife man identified as Eyor Eketen, 35, is cooling off in police cell in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State over the murder of Charles.
An eyewitness said Lovina Okon, the alleged lover, had been the occupant of the room while the accused, Eyor her boyfriend who also resides in Yenagoa, visits regularly.
However, on that tragic Tuesday afternoon, at about 3:39 p.m., while Lovina and Charles were inside her room, Eyor arrived unannounced.
Lovina refused to offer any introduction.
“What are you doing with my woman. Who you be? Eyor kept on asking Charles.”
The eye witness narrated that Charles insisted Lovina should offer an introduction but she refused
“During the commotion, Eyor, who understood the apartment well, ran into the kitchen, came out with a knife and stabbed unsuspecting Charles in several places.”
‘An Ugly Lady’
A resident of the area, Mr Maxwell Seibo condemned the act.
“It is a shameful thing to die in such a manner.
“The worst thing is that Charles is a married man.
“He left his family in Port Harcourt to come and die in his girlfriend’s house.
“It is painful to see two men fight over an ugly lady with sun-burns from excessive use of bleaching cream.
“Tueh!” he spat.
At the police station, access was not allowed to the suspect, but the spokesman for the police in the state, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident.
“One Eteken stabbed and killed a man simply identified as Charles at the resident of one Lovina.
“The suspect has been arrested and detained at the State CID while the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the FMC mortuary.
“Investigation is ongoing on the matter,” he concluded.
