Hundreds Dump APC For PDP In Otuokpoti Community

Hundreds of members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Otuokpoti community, ward two (2) Ogbia Local Government Area have defected to the People Democratic Party ahead of the November 16th Poll. The decampees described the All Progressive Congress as a party of bloody liars and self-centered politicians who are not concerned about the development of Bayelsa state.
They said despite their support for the party for four years running, the party has not make any impact in their hometown – Otuokpoti.
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Mr. Ekerete Victory regretted why he joined the All Progressive Congress (APC). He said he was deceived by some sugarcoated politicians who promised him and his people heaven on earth, but later abandoned them.
“We defected to APC because they promised to turn Otuokpoti to London. But there is no APC impact in the community till date.
“The APC leaders asked us to wait. We have waited for too long. We can’t wait any longer. And we have decided to join our former party – PDP, to support Douye Diri.
“We will support PDP to win the election.” Victory vowed.
In his solidarity remark, the coordinator of the Otuokpoti (APC) Youth Vanguard Martin Tebeba, said he and his people have worked for leaders of APC in Bayelsa State with nothing to show for it. Adding that the APC does not have plan to develop Bayelsa State.
Mr. Ombu Aleke Snr who also defected to the People Democratic Party (PDP) from the Labor Party said his decision to join the People Democratic Party was borne out of his community interest. Obua said he believed the candidate of the PDP, Sen. Douye Diri will win, because he shown capacity and competency.
Receiving the decampees the Vice Chairman of the PDP, the Chairman of the Ogbia Local Government Area, Hon. Ebinyo Turner, Deputy Director Operation, Douye Diri Campaign Organisation, Hon. Collins Cocodia, and Chief Benson Agadaga among others commended them for taking the bold step to join the PDP. Adding that PDP will win the next governorship election in the state, particularly with their support.
Chief Agadaga called on all sons and daughters of all Ogbia Local Government Area to remain faithful to the PDP. According to him PDP is an Ijaw man party, noting that the party gave them the opportunity to produce a president and several other positions of power.
In his remarks after the inauguration of the Otuokpoti chapter of the leadership of Ogbia Democratic Movement, the commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Prince Awudumapu Isiki appreciated the people of the Otuokpoti for coming out in their numbers to show solidarity to the candidate of the People Democratic Party, Sen. Douye Diri and his running mate, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. He encouraged the people to support and vote massively for the party in the November 16th Poll in the interest of Bayelsa State.
