He said Douye Diri was the only lawmaker at the National Assembly from Bayelsa State whom the Civil liberties Organization (CLO, Bayelsa Branch) and Environmental Rights Action( ERA, Bayelsa office) could easily reach; as his legislative aides were ever ready to facilitate such whenever the need arises.

“Senator Douye Diri (then as a Rep member) was the only lawmaker at the National Assembly from Bayelsa State whom the Civil liberties Organization (CLO, Bayelsa Branch) and Environmental Rights Action( ERA, Bayelsa office) could easily reach; as his legislative aides were ever ready to facilitate such whenever the need arises.”
Alagoa said “Although we needed achieve much, we shared information on Human and Environmental Rights related issues with his office. In fact, based on these interactions; he made some related presentations on the floor of the House. I personally received calls or SMS informing me to watch certain electronic media outlets when some of his presentations were made.”
The environmental rights activists mentioned some of the cases Douye Diri intervened while in the Nigerian House of representatives, which “include oil spills related matters, Trawlers incursion into shoreline operations and shooting our local fisher folks, Ese Oruru matter, and some other Human Rights violation cases.”
